International Symposium: “How to Share Built Heritage”

Change of programme – Shared Built Heritage Symposium in Cape Town postponed
See alternative « Heritage of the Cape » programme by ICOMOS South Africa, 4-5 October 2007
The Shared Built Heritage Committee has advised that it has decided to postpone its symposium “How to Share
Built Heritage” originally planned in Cape Town from 3 -5 October 2007 to later this year to coincide with
the completion of a major project related to the topic. This relates to the Genadendal Moravian Mission
Station (a joint project between South African and Dutch organisations). The exact date will be confirmed in
due course by the ISC.
ICOMOS South Africa has therefore set up an alternative programme in Cape Town to take place on the same
dates as previously set aside for the Shared Built Heritage meeting, so as to provide for delegates attending
the ICOMOS meetings in Pretoria who wish to also visit Cape Town. Attached you can find the details and
registration information of this programme, which focuses on the heritage of the Cape and will include a
field trip to Genadendal as well as other major heritage sites around Cape Town.
