Save the date: AGA2025 in Lumbini NEPAL
This year, the ICOMOS Annual General Assembly, Advisory Committee meetings and Scientific Symposium will take place in Lumbini, Nepal, from 11 to 19 October 2025, organized by ICOMOS Nepal.

The meetings of the Advisory Committee (Scientific Council, National Committees and Advisory Committee) will take place from 12 to 14 October – agendas and working documents will be sent to all ICOMOS Committees in due time.
The Annual General Assembly will convene on 14 October. The session will focus on receiving the reports of the ICOMOS President and Treasurer on the management by the Board and the health and financial situation of the association; approving the annual report and accounts and discharging the Board, as well as voting next year’s budget. All ICOMOS members shall have the right to attend the General Assembly and may be designated to be a voting member within the conditions set out in Articles 9-a and 13-d-4 of the ICOMOS Statutes.
Remote participation in all statutory meetings and the AGA will be possible through a hybrid format. More information will be shared soon.
The achievements of ICOMOS over the past 60 years, since its establishment in 1965, will also be celebrated in Lumbini on 14 October.
The opening of the Scientific Symposium is scheduled for 15 October, followed by the Symposium itself on 16 and 17 October. The theme of this year's Scientific Symposium is "Perceptions of Heritage and Resilience - Disaster Risk Reduction and Preparedness". The Symposium will contribute to the ICOMOS Triennial Scientific Plan 2024-2027 “Conflict and Disaster Resilient Heritage”, while contemplating on “Peace and Heritage”.
The 2025 Scientific Symposium
The Scientific Symposium in Lumbini will bring together ICOMOS members, international and national experts, as well as friends and peace-lovers to explore diverse perspectives on heritage and resilience. With a focus on disaster risk reduction and preparedness, discussions will be structured around the three subthemes:
1. Navigating and Negotiating Conflict,
2. Withstanding the Forces of Nature for Conservation and Development of Heritage and
3. Leveraging Heritage for Peace.
The call for abstracts opens on 26 March 2025.
