ICOMOS COP27 STATEMENT 1

On the occasion of COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh from 6-18 November 2022, ICOMOS is issuing with its African Committees a statement on the impact of climate change on African heritage.

7th UCLG World Congress x ICOMOS

At the 7th UCLG World Congress, ICOMOS representatives, Se Hoon Park and Hae-Un Rii were part of the discussions on Culture and Climate, the future of cultural rights to shape new sustainable development and Culture in the Sustainable Development Goals. Through shared activities and advocacy, ICOMOS and UCLG strengthen the role of culture and cultural policies as a key resource for communities, cities and territories of the future.

Strengthening Capacities of World Heritage Professionals in the Arab Region for Cultural and Natural Sites
29 January - 2 February 2023

This programme aims to build a strong network of experts from the Arab Region that will assist the Arab States, the Advisory Bodies, and all World Heritage stakeholders in the effective implementation of the World Heritage Convention.The workshop, in English, will be held from 29 January to 2 February 2023 in Aswan, Arab Republic of Egypt.

The French translation of the ICOMOS document, "Heritage and the Sustainable Development Goals: Policy Guidance for Heritage and Development Actors" was officially launched at the Annual General Meeting of the ICOMOS Sustainable Development Goals Working Group (SDGWG) held on 27 October 2022. This translated document is aimed at spreading the important advocacy of ICOMOS that heritage is a driver and enabler of the achievement of all the SDGs.
