ICOMOS & HIST sign MoU

ICOMOS COP27 STATEMENT 1

On 21 November 2022, Prof. Huadong Guo, Director of the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST), and Teresa Patricio, President of ICOMOS, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to shape a long-term strategic partnership for the protection and preservation of World Cultural Heritage sites through space technologies.

50th anniversary of the WHC

With over 1150 sites inscribed to date in more than 160 countries, representing the greatest natural and cultural treasures of humanity, the success of the World Heritage Convention goes far beyond the initial ambition of its founders. Beyond the sites inscribed, the Convention has proven to be an extraordinarily powerful tool to serve the cause of heritage and strengthen its protection.
