Preserving Legacies Adds 11 New Heritage Sites to its Programme

Preserving Legacies: A Future for our Past welcomes a new cohort of heritage sites representing 6 continents, building on an already diverse range of heritage places from the first founding year of the project. The new site custodians will be equipped with tools to accuretly assess worsening and future climate impacts on their sites in order to rescue them before it is too late.

Joint UNESCO/ICOMOS mission to help support the rehabilitation of Chernihiv's historic centre

ICOMOS experts in Chernihiv

From 18-22 March 2024, a UNESCO/ICOMOS mission to Chernihiv on Guidance for Developing a Rehabilitation Plan for the Historic Center of Chernihiv and Methodology for Emergency Preparedness Plans was held in Chernihiv, Ukraine. Riin ALATALU (Estonia), Sergey KRAVTSOV (Israel), Grainne Shaffrey (Ireland), Zeynep Ece ATABAY (Türkiye) and Zeynep Gül ÜNAL (Türkiye) took part in the mission.

Intl Conference on Participatory Approaches to World Heritage 2024

International Conference Participatory Approaches to World Heritage - ICOMOS

ICOMOS,ICCROM and Sogang University CGSI (Critical Global Studies Institute) organised the 1.5-day public conference and half-day closed workshop upon the invitation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, who hosted the event. ICOMOS World Heritage Evaluation Unit Director Gwenaëlle BOURDIN as well as ICOMOS World Heritage experts Laura ROBINSON and Luisa DE MARCO were part of the project team as panelists and moderators.

Capacity Building Programme Sustainable Development World Heritage Convention Arab States Region / Rock art in Saudi Arabia

Apply by 20 April to take part in the Capacity Building Programme for Incorporating Sustainable Development into the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention in the Arab States Region. The workshop modules will be focused on the concepts of World Heritage, Sustainable Development, the Historic Urban Landscape Approach, and practical applications of lessons learned using the World Heritage property Rock Art in the Hail Region of Saudi Arabia as the case study.
