ICOMOS recently contributed to the review of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group’s Environmental and Social Sustainability Framework (ESSF). In the consultation process, the EIB Group consulted on the EIB Group Environmental and Social Policy and the EIB’s 11 Environmental and Social Standards.

On the occasion of the 2nd ALIPH Donors’ and Partners’ Conference, ICOMOS President Teresa Patrício and ALIPH Executive Director Valéry Freland signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Louvre on 31 January 2022. This MOU is a commitment to strengthen our shared efforts for the protection of heritage, particularly in conflict and post-conflict areas.

ICOMOS President Teresa Patrício travelled to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo to prepare a capacity-building workshop on the elaboration of a general inventory of the country's cultural heritage. This training will be carried out by ICOMOS, thanks to the support of the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Zones (ALIPH) and in collaboration with the National Advisory Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict (CCN) of the DRC.

This year, ICOMOS took part in GivingTuesday 2021. Thanks to your donations, we have raised 15 000€ to fund the ICOMOS Culture-Nature Prize which will be awarded next year to the most promising Culture-Nature initiatives undertaken by ICOMOS members. 

On November 19, 2021, ICOMOS issued a statement of support for the National Committee of ICOMOS Belarus in light of the unstable political situation in the country.

The Board of ICOMOS has approved the formation of a new International Scientific Committee on Water and Heritage (ISCWater). ISCWater is now launching a call for interest to all ICOMOS Committees and members.

All through history, all over the world, water has been a decisive factor in human life and the development of society. Water has forever been central to people’s identity, traditions, beliefs and way of living – it is a vital concern for everyone. Water heritage is everywhere.
