ICORP "On the Road" Initiative launched for 18 April!

ICORP - the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Risk Preparedness - is proud to launch its "On the Road" Initative - which will showcase inspiring stories by professionals and local communities from around the world about post disaster response and recovery of cultural heritage through Documentaries, ‘Campfire Talks’ and Exhibitions.

The pilot episode is dedicated to the April 2015 Gorkha earthquake in Nepal, which besides its heavy human toll severly affected the heritage sites of the Kathmandu valley. The team is leaving for Nepal on 18 April - International Day for Monuments and Sites - follow their progress through their social media channels!

In the framework of the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, in particular Goal 11 -  and its Heritage Target 11.4, the project among other aims to raise public awareness on how cultural heritage contributes to more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable communities by allowing us to meet the actors of post disaster response and recovery efforts in their own context and learn about their experiences, achievements and challenges.
