On 15 July 2022, ICOMOS President Teresa Patrício was invited to speak at the UN Security Council Arria Formula meeting entitled "The Destruction of cultural heritage as a consequence of the Russian aggression against Ukraine", organised by the Permanent Mission of Albania, in cooperation with the Permanent Mission of Poland and the Permanent Mission of Ukraine.
From March 14 to April 4, 2022, 29 African heritage professionals benefited from a capacity building workshop led by ICOMOS on creating a heritage inventory for the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This workshop was initiated by the National Advisory Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict of the Democratic Republic of Congo (CCN), and was funded by the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH).

On 9 March, the wreck of Ernest Shackleton’s ship, the Endurance, was found lying in good condition some 3,000 meters below the site where it was sunk by ice damage in 1915. The Endurance wreck is emblematic of the history of the Antarctic, and of human persistence in adversity.
