Enhancements to the World Heritage procedures of ICOMOS
On 20 January 2015, ICOMOS invited the States Parties members of the World Heritage Committee and IUCN to participate in a meeting to discuss the changes that have been and will be undertaken in order to improve the efficiency and rigour of the advisory work carried out by ICOMOS in the context of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention (1972) as well as to propose mechanisms for an upstream and more cooperative dialogue with the States Parties regarding nominations to the World Heritage List.

9 - 14 November 2014, Florence, Italy
Held under the high patronage of Mr Giorgio Napolitano, President of the Italian Republic and of Ms Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO, this event gathered over 1650 participants and guests from 94 countries, and saw 73 ICOMOS National Committees represented. This encourages us to consider that this important moment in the life of ICOMOS is also the foremost gathering of heritage professionals world-wide.

The ICOMOS International Secretariat is moving in May 2014 !
Dear ICOMOS members, colleagues and friends,
The ICOMOS International Secretariat will be moving to its new premises in Charenton-le-Pont (near Paris – 10 minutes by subway from Place de la Bastille) in the week of 26 May.
The whole team is involved in preparing and packing our documentation, archives etc. for the move and re-installing everything in our new offices. We therefore thank you for your understanding that during the month of May and into mid-June, we will not be able to respond to all queries and will only be able to concentrate on urgent priorities.
Heritage Alert – historic city of Bucharest, Romania

ICOMOS, through its International Scientific Committee on Historic Towns and Villages (CIVVIH) and its Romanian National Committee, has expressed its strong concerns about the safeguarding of the heritage of the historic city of Bucharest in a letter addressed to the highest authorities in the Romanian national government, the Romanian Ministry of Culture and the Bucharest city administration on Friday 18 April 2014, the International Day for Monuments and Sites.
