A strong ICOMOS delegation has contributed to the World Urban Forum of UN-Habitat in Katowice, on 26-30 June 2022, on the theme "Transforming our Cities for a Better Urban Future".

The first WUF was held in Nairobi, Kenya in 2002 and has been held around the world ever since.
ICOMOS is pleased to share the results of an exciting project focusing on building capacities and assessing the climate vulnerability of African UNESCO World Heritage properties. The Values-based Climate Change Risk Assessment: Piloting the Climate Vulnerability Index for Cultural Heritage in Africa (CVI-Africa) project was piloted by a global team of institutions in Africa and the United Kingdom, including ICOMOS, Queen’s University Belfast, The University of Highlands and Islands, Historic Environment Scotland and the African World Heritage Fund.
With over 1100 sites inscribed to date in more than 150 countries, representing the greatest natural and cultural treasures of humanity, the success of the World Heritage List goes far beyond the initial ambition of its founders. Beyond the sites inscribed, the Convention has proven to be an extraordinarily powerful tool to serve the cause of heritage and strengthen its protection.
ICOMOS is launching the ICOMOS Culture-Nature Prize, which will be awarded to support the most promising Culture-Nature initiatives undertaken by our members.
