21st General Assembly of ICOMOS – Voting Platform 2: Election of the President, Secretary General and Treasurer for the mandate 2023-2026 – Results

Dear ICOMOS Members,

We are pleased to inform you of the results of Voting Platform 2: election of the President, Secretary General and Treasurer for the mandate 2023-2026.

Voting Platform 2 was open 24h from 31 August at 12:00 AEST (Sydney) / 04:00 CEST (Paris) to 1 September at 12:00 AEST (Sydney) / 04:00 CEST (Paris). The International Secretariat responded to all demands for assistance received on time and has no information about voting members unable to exercise their vote.

593 votes out of 999 possible votes were cast, that is an 58,77 % participation – with the following result. Each of the candidates who has received a majority of the votes cast for their position are elected to serve as President, Secretary General and Treasurer of ICOMOS for the mandate 2023-2026

President

PATRICIO, Teresa (Belgium) – 542 votes

Secretary General

BUISMAN, Jurn (The Netherlands) – 485 votes

Treasurer

VON PLANTA, Cyrill (Austria) – 535 votes

 
As a consequence of this outcome, it will be no longer necessary to use Voting Platform 3.

The next phase of voting will be on Voting Platform 4. This will provide for the election of the five Vice-Presidents and for voting on the proposed resolutions. To view the draft resolutions, please consult the GA2023 working documents here.


Election of Vice-Presidents

The Statutes state that the Vice-Presidents are to assist the President in furthering the aims and activties of ICOMOS throughout the world and in particular in their region.

The Rules of Procedure provide for the top five candidates to be elected as Vice-Presidents. They also provide that in the case of nominations for Vice-President, the nominator and at least two of the seconders must be from countries from the region in which the country of the candidate is located.

Voters may wish to bear in mind the intention of the Statutes to provide representation in each region when deciding how to proceed with their votes. 

The candidates for the next round are confirmed as follows:

Leonardo Castriota (Brazil) – video presentation in English with French subtitles available
Chilangwa Chaiwa (Zambia) 
HRH Dana Firas (Jordan) – video presentation in English with French subtitles available
Zeynep Gul Unal (Türkiye) 
Susan Mcintyre-Tamwoy (Australia) – video presentation in English with French subtitles available


Voting Platform 4 will open on Tuesday 5 September at 12:00pm Sydney (AEST) / 04:00am Paris (CEST) until Wednesday 6 September at 12:00pm Sydney (AEST) / 04:00am Paris (CEST). Voting members will receive the email inviting them to cast their vote a few hours before the opening of the fourth voting platform.

Results for Platform 4 will be announced at the plenary session of the General Assembly on Friday 8 September.
