An ICOMOS Programme for Next Generation Skills

Meet the 2015 Laureates

The Raymond Lemaire Fund, named after ICOMOS’ first Secretary General, aims to encourage young heritage students and professionals to develop their skills through training and to welcome them within ICOMOS. It is administered by the ICOMOS International Secretariat under the supervision of the ICOMOS Board.

In July 2015, the Fund awarded its first scholarships to 8 laureates across all world regions. Due to the high quality and number of applications received, the Selection Committee faced a very difficult choice among so many worthy and inspiring candidates. This year’s laureates will receive a grant ranging between 500 € to 1500 €, two years free ICOMOS membership and personal mentoring by a senior ICOMOS member in their field.

So that ICOMOS can continue this programme next year and, ideally, award a greater number of scholarships, the Raymond Lemaire Fund needs your support. Each donation counts! Regardless of its amount, it will have a decisive impact on the training and future development of a young colleague. This capacity building is vital both to ensure the dissemination of best practice throughout the regions, but also to promoting the generational renewal of heritage professionals, so necessary for meeting the challenges of tomorrow.

An additional reason to give!

ICOMOS Belgium, who is at the origin of this Fund, has very generously pledged to match each 4 € donated with a 1 € donation by the Committee. So, for example, if we raise 20 000 € through your collective donations, ICOMOS Belgium will donate an additional 5000 €. Help us to achieve our fundraising target!
