ICOMOS Scientific Symposium 2024: The call for abstracts is extended until 15 June 2024!
This year, the ICOMOS Advisory Committee will organise its Scientific Symposium in Ouro Preto, Brazil, from 13 to 15 November 2024 on the theme "Revisiting the Venice Charter: Critical Perspectives and Contemporary Challenges."
The call is now closed.
ICOMOS is celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Venice Charter by launching its Triennial Scientific Plan, “Disaster and Conflict Resilient Heritage: Preparedness, Response, and Recovery,” during the Annual General Assembly in Ouro Preto, Brazil. The symposium aims to reassess the Venice Charter in the context of contemporary heritage challenges, focusing on its Eurocentric origins, the evolution of heritage practices, and integrating insights from newer international conventions. The discussions will address the relevance of the Charter amidst current global issues like climate change, social inequities, and urbanization, emphasizing the need for adaptive heritage conservation practices.
