"Following the completion of the 2018/2019 World Heritage Nominations Cycle, I identified the need to increase the size of the group of Advisers working on ICOMOS World Heritage activities, specifically in order to expand and diversify its international team for the evaluation of cultural and mixed property nominations to the World Heritage List.
From 9 to 13 December 2019, the French edition of the workshop “Renforcer les capacités des professionnels du patrimoine mondial dans la région arabe pour les sites culturels et mixtes” was held in Rabat, Morocco [“Strengthening capacities of World Heritage Professionals in the Arab region”] It was organized by the Arab Regional Center for World Heritage (ARC-WH) and ICOMOS in the framework of their Memorandum of Understanding, and in partnership with ICCROM and IUCN.
As a result of the reflection of the experts attending to the International Expert Workshop “Harnessing the power of World Heritage for a better future: World Heritage and the Post-2020 Biodiversity Framework”, jointly organized by the IUCN World Heritage Programme and the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) with its International Academy for Nature Conservation, that took place from 14 to18 November 2019 at Isle of Vilm (Germany) the World Heritage and the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework statement has been released.
The Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) and ICOMOS International in collaboration with ICCROM and IUCN, are organizing the second edition of the Capacity Building programme for World Heritage Professionals in the Arab Region for Cultural and Mixed sites for French speaker experts.
