ICOMOS has sent a letter to the Bulgarian national authorities to alert them on the destructive impact of ongoing large-scale reconstructions over existing archeological sites in the country. It has also offered its expert support in organizing the process of heritage preservation.

ICOMOS, through its International Scientific Committee on Historic Towns and Villages (CIVVIH) and its Romanian National Committee, has expressed its strong concerns about the safeguarding of the heritage of the historic city of Bucharest in a letter addressed to the highest authorities in the Romanian national government, the Romanian Ministry of Culture and the Bucharest city administration on Friday 18 April 2014, the International Day for Monuments and Sites.

19 December 2012 - Update: West Wing of the Central Government Offices in Hong Kong receives grade 1 listing and will be re-used to house Department of Justice 

ICOMOS is pleased to report that the Board of the Hong Kong Antiquities Authority announced on Monday, 17 December 2012, that the West Wing of the Central Government Offices in Hong Kong, for which ICOMOS had issued a Heritage Alert in June 2012, will be retained in government use, and the whole site will be graded 1, the highest grade under the Hong Kong legislation. The site will be used to house Department of Justice offices rather than being sold for a commercial development.

One of the leading International organizations for the protection of 20th Century Cultural Heritage – the International Council on Monuments and Sites International Scientific Committee on 20^th Century Heritage (ICOMOS ISC20C),  wishes to express its concern regarding the alarming situation now facing the future of Sydney’s Darling Harbour Precinct (Darling Harbour).  Built for the 1988 Australian Bi-Centennial Celebration, Darling Harbour is currently under threat from a government plan to redevelop a large part of the area for commercial and residential development.
