Australia ICOMOS invites our global colleagues to join a special Marker Event to acknowledge the excellent work and wonderful support for the 20th Triennial General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of ICOMOS that could not be hosted in Sydney in 2020.
The GA2020 Marker Event will be held online on Wednesday 7 October 2020 from 8.00pm AEDT (Sydney / Canberra), 11:00 am CEST (Paris), 5:00 am EDT (New York).
On 23 and 24 July 2020, the first ever virtual ICOMOS General Assembly was held.
Called by the President, at the request of a majority of the members of the Board, the sole purpose of this General Assembly was to seek the agreement of the ICOMOS membership to hold all forthcoming 2020 statutory meetings as virtual meetings (i.e. the Triennial General Assembly, Advisory Committee, Board and Bureau meetings), taking into account the current global situation.We are pleased to advise that more than 90% of the voting members voted in favour of the Board’s proposal.
In accordance with the ICOMOS Statutes, the 20th General Assembly will elect the following members of the Board by secret ballot for a term of three years (2020-2023): a President, a Secretary General, a Treasurer, five Vice Presidents and twelve Board members. As the Board will be elected first, candidates for the Bureau are required to indicate whether if elected they intend to stand for the Bureau. According to Article 6-e of the ICOMOS Statutes only individual members shall be eligible for office within ICOMOS.
Committees and members planning to submit a draft resolution to the 20th General Assembly are invited to take into account the following four articles of the Rules of Procedure, which refer to the early submission and processing of resolutions.
