The 20th General Assembly of ICOMOS will elect twenty members of the Board by secret ballot for a term of three years (2020-2023), and from those will elect a President, a Secretary General, a Treasurer, and five Vice Presidents.
The list of nominations for the election of the 2020-2023 Board of ICOMOS received by the International Secretariat to date is now available.
Australia Post has issued commemorative stamps featuring four of Australia’s cultural World Heritage properties.
This stamp issue was instigated by Australia ICOMOS to mark what would have been the 2020 ICOMOS General Assembly in Sydney and this connection is acknowledged on the commemorative pack.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Australia ICOMOS had to make the difficult decision to cancel the GA2020 meeting foreseen in Sydney.
Following this decision, the President of ICOMOS, at the request of a majority of the members of the Board, convened an online General Assembly on 23 and 24 July, whose sole purpose was to seek the agreement of the ICOMOS membership to hold all forthcoming 2020 statutory meetings as virtual meetings (i.e. the Triennial General Assembly, Advisory Committee, Board and Bureau meetings), taking into account the current global situation. More than 90% of the voting members voted in favour of the Board’s proposal.
